Redact a PDF
In many editors, a black box covers the text but leaves it underneath: you select it, copy it, and there it is. In aval, what you redact is removed.
Without an account your documents are kept for 24 hours; sign in with Google, LinkedIn or GitHub to keep them.
How to do it
- 1
Upload the PDF and choose Edit
On the computer or the phone.
- 2
Mark what you want to hide
With Redact (black) or White out (white), over text or images.
- 3
Save
The text under the marks is removed from the file.
What's different in aval
The original is still yours
Redacting creates a new version: the earlier one, with the data, stays only in your account.
More than redacting
The same editor writes, highlights, and adds images, shapes and arrows.
It checks every document
When you upload it, aval looks for blank pages, upside-down scans, pages without text and empty signature fields, and offers the fix.
Your file stays with aval
It's processed on our servers and stored encrypted with your account's key. It isn't sent to other services, shown ads, or used to train AI.
Questions
How do I check it worked?
Search for the redacted word in the downloaded file, or open View the text: it isn't there.
Does it work on scanned pages?
Yes: the marked area is erased from the image too.
