How to do it
- 1
Upload the PDF
Drag it onto aval Workspace or choose it from your computer or phone. If it's too heavy for email, the inspector says so and estimates how much it would weigh compressed.
- 2
Choose the level
Light keeps the quality and only cleans up fonts and structure. Recommended takes images to 150 dpi, enough to read and print. Maximum takes them to 96 dpi, for forms with very low limits.
- 3
Download or share it
The compressed file is a new version of the same document. If you don't like it, go back to the previous one.
What's different in aval
Never heavier
If the PDF was already optimized and compressing it doesn't help, aval keeps the original instead of handing you a bigger file.
Ready for where it's going
Prepare for → Send by email or For an online form compresses only when needed, and also recognizes the text of scanned pages.
It checks every document
When you upload it, aval looks for blank pages, upside-down scans, pages without text and empty signature fields, and offers the fix.
Your file stays with aval
It's processed on our servers and stored encrypted with your account's key. It isn't sent to other services, shown ads, or used to train AI.
Questions
How much smaller will it get?
It depends on what's inside. Scans and photos shrink a lot; a PDF that is only text is usually light already. The inspector shows an estimate before you start.
Does it lose quality?
Light doesn't touch images. Recommended and Maximum reduce images above a certain resolution; text stays sharp at every level because it isn't turned into an image.
